ABOUT NAVAIR

The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) was established in 1966 as the successor to the Navy’s Bureau of Naval Weapons. NAVAIR is headquartered in Patuxent River, Maryland, with military and more than 40,000 civilian personnel stationed at eight locations across the continental United States and one site overseas.

NAVAIR's mission is to provide full life-cycle support for naval aviation aircraft, weapons, and systems. This support includes research, design, development, and systems engineering; acquisition; testing and evaluation; training facilities and equipment; repair and modification; and in-service engineering and logistics support.

At NAVAIR, you can build your career while you protect our nation. You will be a vital part of the land- and sea-based protection that the U.S. Navy provides around the globe. You will join a legacy of success and innovation.

At NAVAIR, Military and civilian professionals embrace the organization and focus on technical excellence in the products and services they provide to our Sailors and Marines. Civilians work side-by-side with military personnel in many world-class, and in some cases, one-of-a-kind laboratories and test facilities.

The benefits and training available to federal employees–specifically at NAVAIR–make working with us an unparalleled opportunity. NAVAIR civilian employees also have significant choices in their career paths and locations of service.
